Oprah Winfrey has been quoted as saying that she is delighted at how united Americans are in the wake of Obama's narrow victory, even going so far as to liken the camaraderie among American citizens to that of the days immediately following the horrors of 9/11.
Ms Winfrey has conveniently overlooked the 46% of voters who cast their votes for McCain-Palin, and the 53% of eligible voters who did not vote for anyone. Raw numbers translate to a mere 26% of the eligible voting population having voted for Obama. That's a whopping 74% who did not vote Democrat.
Where, then, is the bliss? Where, then, is the mandate? Where, then, is the unity?
For the sake of the faint of heart, I did not deduct fraudulent ACORN voter registration from Obama's total.
It is noteworthy that Barack Obama is not officially the president-elect until the Electoral College makes it official on December 15. And there still remains a small matter of Obama's providing his birth certificate to Supreme Court Justice David Souter on December 1, presumably validating him as an American-born citizen. Given the pesky matter of a possible constitutional ineligibility on the part of the man who represented the Democrats, this thing might not be over yet.
Just think of it: If Obama pulls this one off, what's to stop the likes of Moammar Gadhafi from one day serving as President of the United States?
